As Bishop Suffragan, Chet Talton assists Diocesan Bishop Jon Bruno in the oversight of the ministries and administration of the Diocese of Los Angeles. Within his ministry to all congregations, Bishop Talton is Area Bishop to Deaneries 1 through 5.

Bishop Talton also has responsibility for ministries to deacons, higher education, Episcopal Schools and social ministries within the diocese.

Bishop Talton was elected in 1990 and installed in 1991 as Fifth Bishop Suffragan of Los Angeles. He was previously rector of St. Philip's Church in New York City, and a member of the clergy staff of the Wall Street Parish of Trinity Church, New York. He is a graduate of the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California.

Chet Talton was married to April Grayson in 2007. He was previously widowed, and has four children and several grandchildren.
