'Religious Faith, Torture and Our Nation's Soul' at St. John's ProCathedral, Los Angeles

Description
Joining in opposition to the use of torture by United States military and security forces, the Diocese of Los Angeles and other faith communities and the National Religious Campaign Against Torture will sponsor "Religious Faith, Torture and Our Nation's Soul," a time for education, action, and worship. The program will include presentations and theological reflections by the Rev. Canon Henry Atkins, Dr. Glen Stassen, Dr. Sarah Sentilles, and Eisha Mason. The Rev. Gwynne Guibord, ecumenical and interfaith officer for the diocese, will be moderator. Bishop J. Jon Bruno will give the homily at a choral Evensong for Christ the King Sunday service at 5 pm at St. John's. After the service, refreshments will be offered, along with opportunities to explore displays of available resources. The diocesan Peace & Justice Commission and Commission on Ecumenical and Interreligious Concerns will take part in the event, along with co-sponsors ICUJP (Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace), PCU (Progressive Christians Uniting) and the Shura Council.
